About Our School

We extend a warm welcome to all who visit our newly launched website. It provides us with an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of our children and share their learning experiences with a wider audience.

Poulacapple National School is a mainstream co-educational school. Today there are 60 pupils in the school. The staff has grown to 4 teachers, 1 full-time SNA and 2 visiting SET teachers. We also have a secretary and a caretaker.

Here in Poulacapple National School we take great pride in creating a positive, caring, learning environment that will enable children to develop all aspects of their personalities and reach their full potential as responsible, tolerant members of our community. We promote academic, spiritual, emotional, physical, social, cultural development and encourage qualities such as a sense of fairness, independence, self-esteem, self-respect and respect for others. We are dedicated to the health and wellbeing of all our school community.

Our school motto ‘Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh síad” or ‘Praise the youth and they will come”, reflects our holistic approach to learning and how we promote team-work and friendship in Poulacapple National School.

We are very proud of the traditions in the school. The pupils are given opportunities to partake in a range of curricular and extra-curricular activities. We have a strong sporting tradition, especially in Gaelic football, camogie, hurling, swimming, athletics and soccer. There is a large emphasis placed on visual arts in our school with pupils taking part in Cross Border Peace Proms, bi-annual school drama productions and art exhibitions. Our pupils take great pride in the environment both locally and nationally. Our pupils take part in the annual An Taisce Spring Clean and are currently working towards their 6th Green Flag. This year our pupils had the opportunity to experience the workings of a real life business through their participation in the Junior Entrepreneur Programme.

We hope that you enjoy visiting our school website and that it is a help to parents/guardians and members of the school community.
